By car

From Germany, the easiest route is via Salzburg and the Tauern motorway A10 to Villach, then on the A2 towards Klagenfurt as far as the Grafenstein exit, and from there south on the B70 to the Klopeiner See – from Munich that is about 380 kilometres, roughly four to four and a half hours depending on traffic. From Vienna and Graz, take the Southern motorway A2 to the Völkermarkt-Ost or Völkermarkt-West exit (about 300 kilometres from Vienna). Remember the Austrian motorway vignette (also available digitally) and, on the A10, the section toll for the Tauern and Katschberg tunnels. On Saturdays in high season an early start pays off.

By train

Since December 2025 the new Koralm Railway (Koralmbahn) has linked Graz and Klagenfurt in about 45 minutes – and it stops at Kühnsdorf-Klopeiner See station, only about 9 kilometres from our house. From Graz you are here in just over half an hour, from Klagenfurt in about 10 minutes and from Vienna in about three hours – with ÖBB trains and direct WESTbahn trains. For the last few kilometres, take a taxi or the Postbus Shuttle Südkärnten – or simply get in touch with us beforehand and we will find the best solution together. Once you are here, the guest card keeps you mobile even without a car.

By plane

Klagenfurt Airport is only about 30 minutes away by car and has flights from Vienna, among others, and seasonal flights from Germany. Good alternatives are Ljubljana (approx. 1.5 h) and Graz (approx. 1.5 h by hire car, or comfortably by Koralmbahn to Kühnsdorf).

Aktiv Card Südkärnten – your free guest card

The Aktiv Card Südkärnten makes your holiday even more varied – and it is free. You get the guest card from us from the first night, conveniently in digital form on your smartphone. From May to September it lets you join more than 30 guided programmes – from morning yoga at the Turnersee and golf and tennis taster sessions to guided bike and mountain-bike tours, snorkelling for children and cultural-history walks. On top of that there are discounts at many attractions, and you travel free on trains and the Postbus Shuttle in Carinthia. From November 2026 the guest card even works as a ticket for almost all buses and trains within Carinthia.

Good to know

Tourist tax

As everywhere in Carinthia, a tax is charged per person per night that flows straight back into your holiday: into cycling and hiking trails, swimming spots, events and the free Aktiv Card including free travel by bus and train. From 1 November 2026 a uniform Carinthian tourist tax (Kärntner Aufenthaltsabgabe) of €4.50 per person per night applies throughout the state. Children and young people are exempt until the end of the calendar year in which they turn 16.

Shopping & supplies

In St. Kanzian and around the Klopeiner See, just a few minutes away by car, you will find supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants and shops for everyday needs; for bigger shopping trips, Eberndorf and the district town of Völkermarkt are about a quarter of an hour away. There are GPs and a pharmacy in the area – we are happy to give you the current addresses when you arrive. The nearest large hospital is the Klinikum Klagenfurt.

Trips to Slovenia

Take your ID card or passport on trips to Slovenia. Slovenian motorways need a separate vignette, and the Karawanks Tunnel (Karawankentunnel) is tolled on top of that; the route over the Loiblpass is toll-free.
